Alligare Diquat Herbicide - 128oz

I started using diquat in 2023 my 1 acre pond was 100% covered with duckweed and coon weed coming from the bottom I started treating it in June the results were visible within 2 days my pond has trees on all 4 sides so after reading everything I could find on duckweed I knew this was going to be a long process I would treat my pond every two weeks and since there are no fish I more or less sterilized it by fall it was 95% clear of duckweed and coon weed but since duckweed sinks to the bottom in the winter I knew that some would come back and in 2024 it did but only a small amount I sprayed it in May 2024 in killed most of it but I will tell you no matter what the experts say if your pond has trees around it is the leaves that fall in your pond is where duckweed gets what it get what it needs to grow I'm not sure if you can completely kill it 100% but I have a clear pond now but after going through what I did it was worth the time and money to get a beautiful pond back I had used several different types of products but with duck weed don't waste your money on anything but diquat they do make a product that will clear up the muck on the bottom but it is extremely expensive and has to be used yearly and new leaves fall in every year I decided diquat was my best option.

Writing this about a week after application. I used this to kill submerged weeds in a small lake (about 50 acres.) I applied it like I always have with glysophate—about a half a quart of killer for 2.5 gallons of water. I mix it very strong because by the time it gets sprayed on the lake, it’ll dilute plenty. After spraying all the lily pads and submerged weeds which had just hit the top of the lake, it took about a day to turn brown. By day 2 I was worried that it wasn’t doing anything to the submerged weeds because they didn’t seem to change color? So I mixed up a little stronger batch and sprayed again on a super calm day so it would “soak” into the water better. By day 3-4 I was pretty disappointed because things looked the same. But around day 5, I noticed that they were starting to shrivel, and no longer touched the surface of the water. By day 6 they were almost disintegrating, and touching the weeds with a paddle caused them to fall apart. By day 7-8 they are completely gone! I’ve very happy with the product. I used about a half gallon to kill approximately 1 acre of weeds at an average depth of 4-6 feet. I think it’s best to spray when there is no wind, and of course it works best on weeds you can directly spray. I’m going to mix a stronger batch next time and spray everything I can. This product definitely seems to penetrate the submerged weeds better than the 50% glyphosate that I used to use. The instructions say you can use one gallon for 3-4 ft/acres of water, but I’m just trying to keep my pier cleaned up. This is the strongest product I’ve found, and it works better than the “professional” spraying that all my neighbors pay for.Highly recommend it!
