Preppy - Quality Fountain Pen for Beginner
This is a quality writing pen with a fine nib and so ideal for the student wanting to improve the presentation of their work. The nib writes smoothly on the page and produces a very fine line on good paper. Also very good for monochrome sketching. Platinum cartridges last ages but you can also use a converter if you wish. The pen can be converted to an eyedropper for high capacity ink. Lovely and great value for money.

Good pen. Happy!

Unbeatable for the price
These pens despite their budget price are a dream to write with. Always smooth and with the extra fine nib allows for detail and stops thick feathering out on lower quality paper. Using such a fine nib is also very good when you’re left handed as the ink dries much quicker than it would otherwise!

Good value
Not a heavy pen, but the body is thick enough and the walls of the body are thick enough that it feels solid (you can feel the cap flex slightly if you hold it very firmly, but perhaps it needs to do that to snap on). It isn't glass smooth, but it is very smooth for such a fine nib, and is pleasant to write with.I bought the cartridge converter with it. My one disappointment is that after filling it any traces of ink on the section are not as visible as I had hoped, making it more difficult to clean it thoroughly and not get inky fingers on first use. The section is transparent when empty, but when filled it takes up the colour of the ink within it. To avoid inky fingers, it seems you need something like a Parker Vector, where the section is shining metal (but the wider Preppy section feels better, once it has stopped staining your fingers).

Good quality writer
I wanted a very fine nib for drawing and this pen provides exactly that. It writes very well and is really inexpensive. The large cartridge holds a lot of ink. Nothing to say against it at this price point.

Fine Line but Inconsistent Ink Flow
The Platinum Preppy Fountain Pen delivers on its promise of an ultra-fine 0.2mm nib, which is fantastic for those with small handwriting or anyone who appreciates a crisp, delicate line. The stainless steel nib is impressively precise, gliding smoothly across the page when it’s working. I also love the convenience of the "Slip and Seal" mechanism, which does a good job of preventing the ink from drying out when the pen is not in use. However, my experience was dampened by inconsistent ink flow during writing sessions. Despite the mechanism's intent to keep the ink flowing, I found myself stopping frequently to coax the ink out, which interrupted my writing rhythm. This is particularly frustrating when you're in the middle of detailed work or taking notes.Overall, this pen has potential, especially for those who prioritize an extra-fine nib at an affordable price. However, the inconsistent ink flow is a significant drawback. If Platinum addresses this issue, the Preppy could be a five-star product, but for now, it’s an uneven experience.

Great
Love this pen but note that the supplied ink cartridge is water soluble. I swapped it out for a platinum carbon ink cartridge which is not water soluble and the one I use for urban sketching

Great little pen.
This pen is so light to hold and the 0.2mm nib allows me to sketch quite freely.
