Satellite Finder Kit ideal for lining up of satellite dish

This Sat Finder kit has all you need.A Meter with "buzzer", power supply in the form of a battery box (although you will need 10 AA batteries for the 15 volts required), lead, with connectors fitted, for the LNB to meter connection, compass and a box.Instructions are a bit basic and the compass is cheap. Compass seems to point accurately but takes a very long time to steady. I used my old military compass instead.The Attenuator control is very sensitive and require a gentle touch to keep resetting during alignment.Having said all that, it actually worked well for aligning my satellite dish.Info for astronomy techies only - it converted and operated well when used for the "Itsy Bitsy" Radio Telescope design using a standard 11GHz band LNB, with a fairly linear output (meter scale/voltage output). The circuit is good but use the buzzer output for voltage monitoring not the meter output which has an extra series resistor. Output at #10 on the meter scale is about 5.4 volts. Used with an 80cm dish gives a sun temperature of about 260 kelvin after calibration - about right.

brought this kit to have UK channels in France. After I went to the right site managed to find the satellites in not time . Personally I did not use the compass but if you don't have a clue where to located the satellite you want, I guess it can be useful.The only 2 thing I have against that kit is the number of batteries you have to put and lack of mounting which could be useful when moving the dish while looking at the needle on the device.I paid less then £10 for the kit which I do believe is well price. I would recommend that device if you want a quick and simple way to set a Satellite dish.

I couldn't get any change out of it no matter where the dish was pointed. I am sure of the elevation at my latitude and of the direction of the satellite but no amount of adjustment did any good.Further more I went to the trouble of buying the 10 batteries I was told it required only to find, on local advice, that it can be powered by the cable from the Humax box. Much easier to use that way too rather than having a rather heavy battery pack hanging by a short lead.In the end I contacted the installer who told me to throw away the meter and he would come out. Teach me to try and save money.The compass will come in handy if I am lost in future though, but at 17 quid (inc. postage), a bit expensive!

Fitted my own satellite dish at my cottage in France using this, got the info on signal of the web and found the degrees of elevation and direction, then used this to fine tune the dish to the signal....a doddle.One word of warning/advice, I used my i phone compass to set the degrees North and double checked it using the compass supplied, only I kept finding one or both would have some shift and I could not work out why......Doh!!! my watch!!!! each time I was adjusting the phone & compass the watch was slewing the reading....a compass works on magnetics...now I am not suggesting you do this fine tuning using the compass naked....but take anything remotely metallic off!!

Having placed my order around lunchtime, I was pleasantly suprised that the postman delivered at about 8am the following morning. The service from this seller was exceptional.The Sat finder comes in its own little leatherette style box, which when opened you will find all of the equipment to set up your dish. The box contains the sat finder, the patch cable, an external power supply and a very handy compass.The instructions are very clear and give you the confidence to use the kit straight away, DO HOWEVER, follow the instructions, don't just assume that you plug it in and you will find your satellite, it will take 1 or 2 attempts, but the clear instructions guide you very well. All in all, it does EXACTLY what it says on the tin. Can not rate highly enough. A pleasure to trade with this seller.

I used this kit and found it to be very easy to use. I had the television reception up and running in minutes. I bought it because it came with the compass and independent power source (battery pack) It is a well known make and good quality. I would recommend it.

Installed 3 dishes with this. Needs patience and you need to follow the instructions but works great.

Spent ages trying to find out if there was a problem with the dish or LNB or cable. This kit solved it in seconds and helped me get a better signal. This kit is better than others as you use the battery pack to power the LNB which make life so easy. Next day my neighbour borrowed it and came back chuffed with the finder. Top item
