Both of the other answers appear to be incorrect. One of the images above show the actual dimensions. So I suggest you look there, as it is likelier to be accurate.

When you step on the petal, about 37 inches. When you open it all the way to get the inner can out, more like 39. I was using a sewing tape, not a metal one, and by myself, so not precise
