I’d heard whispers that the secret to jet black cakes was black cocoa powder—and y’all, I didn’t even know that was a thing. But holy guacamole, it tasted AMAZING. Way better than dumping a whole bottle of black food gel and hoping for the best. I still used a little gel, but the cocoa did the heavy lifting for color and flavor without wrecking the texture. Total game changer.

Super rich, made my buttercream taste like salted caramel, and my cake taste like Oreos. Wish I had bought more.Texture was great, didn't even need to sift it. There was enough in this 8oz bag to make a three layer cake, and about 2 pounds of black buttercream. Compared with other brands at a higher price I think that's probably pretty good value.Definitely works well to make your baked goods and frostings black without the use of any food coloring. Buttercream will look dark brown at first, but darkens up nicely within hours.

I used the black cocoa powder to made black lab dog sugar cookies. The came out adorable and was able to omit frosting that would have been heavily dyed with black food color. They also tasted wonderful with a deep chocolate flavor.

Purchased to create black frosting and the flavor was so delicious that I ended up using it for the cupcakes as well. I did add just a few drops of black food coloring to the frosting to get it as dark as possible, but I was able to minimize it enough that no one had black teeth or stained hands. Bonus: This is exactly half the price of regular cocoa powder at the grocery store.

I use this just like I would use regular cocoa powder. Everything I’ve used it in has come out great. It had a deeper cocoa flavor in my opinion. Would buy again
