Luther's Small Catechism with Explanation - 1991 Edition

Luther's Small Catechism has helped me, as a Missouri Synod Lutheran, understand the faith. The explanations are simple to understand and where questions arise, you can expect a great theological discussion with your pastor to fill in the gaps. In other words, it's great for conversation and reflection on the Christian faith.Also, there are some wonderful prayers in this book that can contribute to your prayer life.My Catholic friends like this catechism too, because Catholic catechisms seem to still be written for theological scholars, and ignore the typical Catholic who just wants to understand Christianity better.I owned this in hardcover already, but I wanted to read it with my daughter on the Kindle when I put her down each night. Good buy.

Amazingly great even if not a Lutheran. Hey I'm into the teachings of the reformation, and this little book is outstanding. It makes a great devotional. Try reading ten pages a day every month. You'll get through it once a month, then you can do it again and again and again.This thing is full of scripture. It fits Luther's small catechism great.I'm not a Lutheran, and there are parts (few) that I just disagree with. Other than that, this is an awesome resource. Get it. Use it. Read it. Reuse, reread it.

I read this book for the first time at about the age of 12 or 13 when participating in confirmation class at the church I grew up in. It really does contain a tremendous amount of knowledge and explanation regarding the Lutheran religion. I continue to look to it for answers from time to time as an adult.

This Concordia publication has Luther's small catechism with 200 pages of scripture verses and explanations. This is an excellent study for anyone, young or old. I am in my forties and found this a great way to remind me of the clear truths of christianity. Luther's writings have a way of always bringing you back to the basics and the basics are always relevant to whatever you are going through in your life. It is only when you get away from clear doctrine that the gospel seems less than relevant to your daily life. The catechism is a great review of the truths of the christian faith.

This book is printed in an inverted way: open the cover and everything is printed upside down.I do not know how to get a hold of the seller: There si no way to contact. I hope this is read and they contact me.

I have been a Christian for quite a few years. And I went through two years of confirmation classes as a teen. But over the last few years as I spent more time in God's Word, I found I had a lot of questions. I asked my pastor, but never got satisfactory answers. I recently joined a Lutheran (LCMS) church and read this book and the Book of Concord. I found both to be very helpful, but in particular, I enjoyed how the Small Catechism answered so many of the questions I had previously been unable to answer. All of the points are backed up with quotations from scripture (NIV translation) which I also liked. All in all, I highly recommend this book. I think it is appropriate for all Christians, not just Lutherans.

I was looking for an introduction to the core of Lutheranism. This was it. However, Luther's Large Catechism has far more explanation regarding the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, etc. However, if you are looking for a short introduction, then the Small Catechism is great.

I bought this to improve my journey in my faith.
