I think in many ways I had become desensitized to "business speak" and this book has gotten me excited about data.... Data!. It is full of examples of companies that are using analytics to completely change the way business is done.. Any company can collect data and use data to make decisions. This book helped me see that not all data are good data, and sometimes even if the data you are collecting are the right data, the collections methods could be flawed, making it bad data. Thus, not all insights based on data are valid and not all decisions based on data are the best decisions. In my words, companies need the right capabilities to navigate the data chasm we live in today and in a way that enables good decision making, improvements to process, etc..I am even excited about the potential impact analytics can have on our entire world....traffic accidents eliminated, planes that never crash, hospitals that don't infect people, all sorts of products without anymore defects.... think 20 years out--- it is possible that some of these things are actually eliminated. The possibilities are endless...if more companies focus on strengthening their analytic capabilities and then running their business on solid analytical insights-- it will benefit them and the world... it is inevitable. Think of the old adage, "data doesn't lie" but you have to have the capabilities to do data right!Beyond what it can do for companies.... I don't own a company nor am I at the c-level, for sure. Growing my understanding of the Sentient Enterprise will help people like me (I'm not a computer science grad or a "techie") excel in my role and unleash opportunities for me to help propel the company forward. It's like knowing the secret sauce or being able to sit at the table with the cool kids... it is a going to be an exciting personal journey for me and I'm just beginning.I'm on my second read and I'm learning more this time around than I did the first. It's a lot to absorb but fascinating and inspiring!

5 Stars for the 5 Stages of Sentience
Data is everything these days, and sifting through the noise to get to the signals is how industry leaders get and stay on top. This book provides a clear map of how to get from "here" (data without insight) to "there" (best practices). I loved how easy it was to follow the logic and reasoning, and I'm inspired to help put it all into practice. Recommended!
