Fantastic! But loud!
Great amp and it lived up to what I had heard of it in reviews etc.Do not fool yourself into thinking you can have everything at full whack in your home at 0.5w. This thing is LOUD.I am having success using an attenuator and running the amp at 0.5W.No fizziness of loss of tone using the separate powersoak unit to bring it down to sensible volumes. I think the fact that it’s switchable to 0.5W is giving the attenuator and easier job to do!If you want to use this as a pedal amp and run it clean, then you will be able to manage the volume for home use on probably the two lowest power stages.Like I said if you want preamp and power amp distortion, it’s going to loud! Well over 180db at 0.5W!!!

Great classic Marshall sound
Great classic Marshall sound. Very good build quality. Solid! Note: even in the low wattage mode (0.5W) it will be too loud for living room playing. Buy an attenuator with -20db attenuation and then you should be ok!

Best value amp head I ever owned
I’ve always had trouble finding an amp to do it all, obviously they don’t really exist, we all chase that unicorn as tone seekers.I’ve been a guitarist and a studio engineer so my standards are pretty high, and I’ve worked with a LOT of amps and players. This is a basic amp, and that’s fine because basic amps should do one thing well, luckily for me this does three things well. The clean tone is almost bell like, not as spiky as a fender and not as perfectly clean but this amp is capable of great clean tones without that Marshall character as well as with that character depending on your gain settings. It does crunch with style, obviously all valves doing the work here and it’s glorious, plug in a powerful pickup and the lead tones are beautifully articulate. Surprisingly so!I bought it primarily as a pedal platform so the sound has already exceeded expectations. It takes pedals like an absolute boss too!!Damn I wish these had existed years ago, more people should experience a solid but basic Marshall valve amp in their life, I firmly believe this is it.It’s not old sounding like a fender tweed and it’s not modern like a 5150 but the space in between it fills perfectly.I bought this based on YouTube reviews which I’ve never done before but this amp was absolutely no mistake.I’m running it into a Marshall 1936 2x12 with a few choice pedals.I’m enjoying playing guitar again for the first time in a while!
