Is the LinkTap Extender compatible with third-party Zigbee hubs or devices?

Unfortunately, no. The LinkTap system uses a proprietary protocol built on top of the standard Zigbee, making it incompatible with third-party Zigbee products.

My LinkTap water timer has an unstable connection to the Gateway. Will a LinkTap Extender help?

It depends. Unstable connections are typically caused by weak signal reception, wireless interference, or low-quality batteries. A LinkTap Extender will help only if the issue is due to weak signal reception.

My faucet is far from my LinkTap Gateway. How many Extender hops does the LinkTap system support?

The Zigbee protocol technically supports up to five hops. However, for optimal stability and performance, we recommend limiting the connection to no more than three hops (i.e., three Extenders) between the Gateway and the water timer.

After adding a LinkTap Extender to my system, do I need to configure the water timer to connect to the Extender?

No configuration is needed. The Zigbee protocol automatically chooses the best path—direct to the Gateway or via an Extender. To refresh the connection, simply power the water timer off and on—it will reselect the optimal route.

Can the LinkTap Extender be mounted outdoors?

Yes. The Extender's main unit is weatherproof. However, the included AC-DC power adapter should be protected from rain.
