While this was one of the two most recommended devices, I was a little concerned about having to use my cell phone to control it. Over the last few months it has worked flawlessly. I find the cell phone app very intuitive and easy to use. Connection to device has never been an issue. Just start the joule and it asks for temperature. Then asks for time. You can put your food into the water at anytime as suggested since the timer won't start until the water reaches your set temperature. So it is really set and forget. Of course your cell phone will chime when the water reaches temperature and when the food is done cooking.

This item does a great job of covering a cooking vessel for sous vide, especially for long cooks where water evaporation could be an issue. I've packed it along with my Joule for vacations. It's thin and weighs very little. Highly recommended.

I got this lid shortly after getting my first Joule a year ago, and it is great. Not sexy for sure, just dependable. Sometimes the hook is a little tricky, but that is also an issue with the way I have to hook it on to my pot.My color of mine is a battleship grey. I wish there were color options, but that does not affect performance.I also wish it came it a size and shape for the 12 qt Cambro containers.

I like how it helps maintain the temperature of the sous vide.

Does what it's supposed to do

For Joule, this is the lid you want. It is specifically designed to fit the shape of Joule which is great. It works well. I used it on a large stock pot and had no problem. At first I thought the metal hook was overly fussy feature, but once I used it I understood how clever it is and makes managing your food so much easier. This is a great and well-thought-out accessory!

This lid worked great! The water did not evaporate at all over the 48 hours of cooking time! Definitely a worthwhile product to use with your Joule.

This may be my shortest review ever. This lid does what it is supposed to but the positioning of the hole for your Joule is totally misplaced. When using this in my 11-inch pot, because the walls are slightly curved, the joule doesn't sit flush against the bottom. If the hole was positioned about half an inch closer to the center, this would not be a problem. I also could not really use the little clip to hold the lid open. I'm not quite sure how it is able to hold the lid partially open but it never worked for me.
