Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese DOP 2 lb

What I received was well packaged, cold, dry, and not moldy. It tasted right. It's good Reggiano Parmigian cheese. Slightly nutty/crunchy/crystally in that good way. Good price. Other reviewers appear to have gotten rotten cheese that was poorly packaged. The pictures look awful. That was not my experience. The cheese I received was top notch. I normally buy Reggiano at my local market for between $18 and $24 per pound. This comes in at $17 per pound, so it's not a huge savings, but it's nice getting 2 pounds at a time.

I can't say enough good things about this cheese! Once you've tried it, you're hooked. You'll never go back to "cheese" that one of the ingredients is powdered cellulose (that's sawdust people). I have ordered this multiple times and I grate it all when it arrives, ( KitchenAid is a big+ for this ) as it comes in a large triangle with the branded rind on it (don't eat the rind, just cut off the outside 1/4 in or so, you can tell the difference) and I don't know anybody that eats a hunk of Parmigiano Reggiano by itself, so fully grated it is. I store it in a sealed container in the fridge and it lasts for a couple of months, not because it goes bad, but because we EAT it all! Do yourself a favor, try it. The cheese will arrive packaged well with cold packs as freezing is not recommended. I had some arrive in the summer ( in Texas ) that had been delayed in shipping by an extra day and although the cold packs were melted, the cheese was still cool and quite delicious. Love this cheese!!

In a moment of wandering attention I accidentally ordered this cheese instead of Frank and Sal's.What a hideous mistake on my part. This tasted like the store brand parmesan from your local supermarket. It had no subtlety, no complexity, no aroma. I couldn't tell it had been aged at all. Instead of being crumbly like well-aged parmesan, it had the texture of a wax crayon.It was not rotten nor moldy, and it was one step above the pre-grated green can cheese. That's about all I can say for it. Without reading the label, I would guess this was Kroger's second best store brand Parmesan.It's tremendously overpriced and mediocre at best. My advice: Be diligent reading Amazon advertisements, and avoid yet another small but annoying disappointment in your life. ;-)

This is our favorite Parmigiano Reggiano cheese from the different sellers we tried on Amazon. However, it seems from some of the reviews that you are not always getting the cheese from Frank and Sal Italian Market. Our most recent shipment did come from Frank and Sal and was superb. It was delivered within two days after ordering (by FedEx from Long Island to Florida, impressive) and very well packed with two ice packs. The ice packs were still partly frozen, so they kept the cheese nice and cool. The taste is intense and flavorful, and I have now subscribed to this product. We use it mainly to grate the cheese for use in Italian dishes and omelets. The two-pound piece lasts us about 4-6 weeks, and I grate only a small piece at a time to keep in a jar in the fridge.

I love it. It arrived in a cold packed box and is nice to have REAL cheese for my meals. Will definitely buy from them again
