The beast!!!
Is it worth it? who actually knows it depends on your budget. But your shot is only as a good as the cheapest piece of equipment on your glass, so if your after the optimal shots you have to go with the optimal equipment. or maybe thats just a marketing spiel. But it got me to upgrade from my K&F mist filter, and ive not looked back or put that one back on since. Very happy with the image i get.black mist - Yes the cinematic look everybdoy trying to create from films to commercials. 1/8 Is usually the standard as its more universal and can be used everyday for shooting opposed to 1/2 and 1/4 which are more strong in appearance and as such much more selective with shots to not overpower the scene with glow/halation. so yes 1/8 is good.cast - not had any shadows / x related tints to my knowledge on this, everything is looking as it should and ive not had any weird coloured tints eitheir. I didnt notice them much on my k&F so wouldnt expect it here eitheir.Overall - very happy with this purchase is it worth the money over cheaper? thats down to your wallet but if you want the best invest in the best. I'm a bit dissapointed they didnt provide no wipes or a filter box or anything with the filter. like K&F which provided a case and wipes . But i guess when you sit at the top you get what you pay for and nothing else.

A lot of money, but with no competition at this quality.
I was hesistant to put so much money into a single filter for a niche effect, but through a lot of research, the Tiffen line of diffusion filters all seem to be in a league of their own.The Black Pro Mist 1/8th strength is an incredibly subtle, smooth diffusion, that you notice more when it is not there. It brings away just a hint of the ultrasharp details, and in bright highlights, adds a soft and subtle glow. For those who really want to see the effect, the 1/4 strength may be a better choice. But the 1/8th is a great choice for a filter you might want to keep on your lens 24/7. It has become my second most used filter, after my circular polariser.Attached are a few of the images that have come out of my Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/8th, so far.

A classic
I love the look of the 1/8 version of this filter and it hardly ever comes off of my lens.

No difference between filter/no filter
When the 52mm filter arrived, I did a few different tests (candles, street lamps, lamps), and found no difference between filter on and filter off - even just looking through the glass produced no bloom of diffusion. The filter also contained finger marks straight out of the box. Definitely not worth the price tag.

I use these pro-mist on all of my lenses
As a professional photographer I wouldn't be without a pro-mist on any of my lenses. I used to use them only periodically, worrying that they degraded the detail in landscapes. However, as landscape are merely context for lifestyle portraiture, which is my primary focus, I would rather sacrifice a little detail in return for the wonderful qualities these filters burn into the RAW. Vastly better than relying on halation in Alien Skin Exposure, especially when you're trying to get as much right in camera as possible. A useful investment.

Amazing
Love this for an outdoor elopement or advance couple shoot. Get them lovely soft creamy look. End up bought another one. Two for each lenses.

Great filter, but bad condition for "New" product
Love the filter, however due to the condition I asked for a replacement. The replacement was even more beat up and refunded completely.Perhaps a bad batch, but both had damage to the storage cases, one was missing documentation, and both showed obvious signs of previous usage/handling - including scratches, and thumbprints. For something that goes in front of your lens to be scratched and marked, it is far from ideal for intended use.Great filter to use, but check your order for signs of usage.
