I LOVE these. I don't have any kids, but what I do have is a very determined German Shepherd who would get into the trash no matter what I did to deter her. I got a can with a lid, I got a can with a heavy lid and foot mechanism, I put things on top of the lid. Nothing worked. I'd always come home to kitchen trash on the ground. I thought it was hopeless. Then, as I was browsing through Amazon, these popped up, and I thought I'd finally found a solution to my problems. I put them on the "trash" trash can and also on the trash can I converted into a dog food storage container, and never once since having added these have I come home to trash on the ground. My only recommendation if you choose to use this for the same purpose, is to put the longer part of the latch on the lid, and the part that holds the strap in place when closed on the body of the trash can. I did it both ways and this way is substantially easier when it comes to closing the lid as it prevents the straps from being trapped in the trash can. I was just too excited when I applied them the first time to think ahead.

These are disappointing. They break easily.

This item worked amazing to keep my new fridge in the rv closed when driving down the road. They use 3m adhesive which works well and the straps are adjustable which is nice for a fridge.

Our dog has tried her hardest to destroy our trash can. It's got so many dents and dings, and the top plastic piece is tore up, but the two straps we used have kept her out. I don't have kids, but I feel like it would work to keep toddlers out of trouble if the determined dog can't managed to pull the trash bag out with these things on.For adhesion - the can is a soft plastic and smooth steel. We haven't had any slipping on the two locks at all.It only takes one hand to open these, but it takes an empty hand to do it, since you have to slide the clip then pull up - just sliding it isn't enough.

Does the job well and reasonably priced

Good for its purpose so far for one to two year old .
