Will these scratch a clear coat at all? (I mean on any level whatsoever) Thanks!

If you have dirt on the paint or if you get the applicator dirty, it can push the dirt into your paint and scratch it, which is likely true for any other applicator.

Can i use these foams to apply compound, polish and wax with the same pads or do i need to have pads for every step?

I would use separate pads or at least wash them between each step...... You don't want compound or even polish residue left on the pads when you are applying the finish wax. Thank you eric

Would this be good for applying Rain-X to my windshield?

No. You apply rain-x the same way you apply glass cleaner. Spray it on and wipe off. Paper towel, or other. I prefer using a microfiber towel when cleaning glass
