Way better than the original silver and black 2-way
I bought a Viper 5701 alarm a year or so ago and needed to replace the 2-way remote. The one included with the alarm was the older two-tone silver and black style (pn 7251). This is a huge improvement from the original, fixing my two biggest problems. It works flawlessly as a replacement to the original 2-way responder and I had no problems programming it. The first thing they did to improve the design was do away with the easily broken and ineffective backplate / battery door design which didn't actually keep the battery in place. On this one, the whole shell snaps together securely. Admittedly, the design makes it slightly more difficult to change batteries, however I would say that's an improvement over the previous design. The second issue they fixed was making the buttons a little more difficult to press, so you no longer accidentally hit the lock button getting the keys out of your pocked. Best yet, I can press only the unlock button even with gloves on, so in the winter I no longer hear the annoying screeching warning noise from slightly pressing the unlock button when I'm trying to lock. The button press has a nice firm click action that feels much better. Additionally, battery life seems improved as well, but that might just be from not having all the errant button presses and random battery door getting loose and having to go through the remote startup sequence jingle when it gets power again.

Works as a replacement for my Viper 5701 remote
Finally replaced my old viper remote that was falling apart . The dreaded faulty battery door on the original remotes. I should’ve replaced it long time ago. Glad I finally did . As not having the door causes remote not to work properly . This works great ! Instructions on box is correct for my unit . Took couple times but i got it. You have to be somewhat quick doing the steps, if not the control unit on the car will reset and you have to start over.
