Nice intro to rc cars. Not enough detailed info for my needs. More detail information on the internet. Not worth the money for my needs (buyers regret).

Half of the book is a copy of ROAR rules book. This price is too high to this low value.

Very out of date! Fails to even mention technologies that are commonplace today such as brushless motors, LiPo batteries, 2.4GHz radios, truggies, short course trucks, etc. It does, however, mention such things such as solar powered RC cars and miniature (2 1/2 inch) RC cars. And it would seem that while the book was run thru a spell checker, the correct word was not always the one selected for replacement giving the presentation a sloppy look and feel.And there are some factual errors. For example a statement that nitro fuel is a combination of gasoline, nitromethane and lubrication is made early in the book. Though in the section that is devoted to nitro fuel the author does get it right that the main component of RC nitro fuel is methanol and not gasoline. But even then he gets the ratios mixed up with such figures of 22% methanol being normal and 10% to 15% nitro being common. The 10% to 15% nitro content may be common for RC planes, but RC cars use 20% to 30% nitro. So given 20% to 30% nitro methane and 8% to 12% (average) lubrication content, methanol content would start in the 62% and up range and not 22%!The information it does provide, though dated, is of a general nature and would be useful at the beginner level as a part of a wider look into RC cars given a caveat on it's staleness. But the bulk of the book is made up of a reprinting of ROAR rules, though I couldn't say how up to date these rules are considering they've been changed recently, making it of limited value (especially given the publication date noted on the Amazon product page).
