NITRAM Charcoal Assortment contains 2 Sticks each of H (Hard), HB (Medium), B (Soft) & B+ (Extra Soft) Charcoals. NITRAM Charcoals are low dust as compared to vine & willow charcoal and are easy to blend & erase. They can be sharpened to a fine point using the NITRAM Sharpening Bloc or sandpaper. NITRAM Charcoal has long been considered the finest charcoal for drawing & is the preferred charcoal of professional artists, academies & ateliers. NITRAM are experts in making rich, black charcoal for the discerning artist. These charcoals do not crumble or skip when used expressively or under pressure. The 5 mm & 6 mm NITRAM Academie Fusains / Extra Soft charcoal sticks can be used with or without a charcoal stick holder (STYLUS). They are perfect for drawing & sketching, creating brilliant dark lines and shading & drawing shadows. The Box contains 8 Charcoal Sticks. Each Academie Fusain is a square of approximately 5 mm x 5 mm x 15.2 cm (1/4” square x 6” Long) dimensions. The Extra Soft Charcoal Sticks are round of approximately 6 mm Diameter x 15 cm (.236” Dia x 6” Long). H (Hard) Nitram H can be sharpened to an extra fine point for creating fine detail in your drawing. Also, the unique hardness of Nitram H makes lighter and mid tones easier to attain. HB (Medium) This medium soft charcoal is the one most preferred for drawing and sketching. Nitram HB’s superior hold is perfect for genizing tones and retaining tonal detail. B (Soft) For the discerning artist that requires a rich black for drawing, then Nitram B is the answer. It is very soft, yet is still able to carry a point for working rich blacks into the paper or canvas. B+ (Extra Soft) Dark & Velvety Smooth for Dark Notes & Shading. It is extra soft, yet is still able to carry a point for working rich blacks into the paper or canvas
