This roof is safe!
It started with a palm tree planted a tad too close to my house. It grew innocently enough, sure... but it soon grew higher than my house. There began the problem you see? When the palm branches rested on the roof, and the wind blew ever so gently on lazy summer days, no harm, no foul... or so I thought. Then on windy July days and when hurricanes and tropical storms would stop by for a spell, the branches would sweep and swoosh across the shingles thereby stripping the granules little by little. The roof is not a living regrowing, replenishing entity, ahh but the tree IS. Palm tree branches will wear out in time, die and be replaced. Those branches when trimmed (with tender loving care!) will grow back relentlessly, shamelessly, and without end! All the while, the tree grew taller and taller, the branches grew longer and longer as if to taunt me. Standing on my tippy toes in the early days, moved on to requiring the aid of a step ladder, to eventually needing the assistance of an extension ladder! But alas you see, at the base of this magnificent palm tree was a bed of soil and red beauty bark. Not a firm surface for an extension ladder, and certainly not something an aging man would desire to clamber up to feebly attempt to trim palm branches. Living in Florida, where recently home insurance companies began their miserly witch-hunt against homeowners with roofs older than your junior high schooler, we had to replace the roof sooner than we would have liked.Determined not to repeat the past I began a campaign to somehow wage a (peaceful and symbiotic) war against that blasted palm tree! I looked to the internet to seek out birds of a feather to learn of their plights and woes and most importantly... solutions! And lo and behold I came across the Scalebeard 26 Foot Tree Trimmer Pole on Amazon, and with a glimmer of hope, I began to scour the reviews, reading not only the good and the bad, but also the ugly of this purportedly AMAZING product.I say to you dear reader, I rolled the die and clicked with a newfound hope and determination on the "add to cart" button! In 2 days it arrived, somehow managing to avoid the hawklike gazes of local porch pirates, local yocals, kids and kittens. Upon opening the box, briefly scanning the instructions, I felt ready to take on the newly grown palm tree branches that had already begun their assault of the brand-new shingles upon my humble home! Why, I simply screwed together 4 of the provided poles and screwed on the tip with the wickedly sharp hooked sawblade and went to battle! In less time than it takes to say "Hold my beer!" I had already sawed off one of those youthful, mocking, rogue branches, and like a kamikaze pilot in its death dive, it attempted to spear me on the way down! I zigged and I zagged, but folks, I was too nimble for that sort of chicanery! The weight of the pole was not so encumbering that I could not maneuver the pole to the precise position that was required to do the job, but it was enough to "aid" the sawing of the offending branch you see? I was able to quite easily saw with the weight of the pole "pushing" down on the branch and intermittently wave a threatening fist up at the next target of my attention. I promise, I only targeted the branches that were guilty of the transgression of scraping granules off my brand-new shingles! The non-offending branches were able to escape unscathed and hopefully warn other would-be offenders.By this time, as one might imagine, there was quite the gathering of neighbors, passerby's and even a few local shrubs and hedges. I saw mixed emotions in the gathered witnesses. Some had the look of fear in their eyes, others had ... resignation, yes, there was a new Sheriff in town and this one had put out the message that there was to be no more roof shingle granule scraping going on. No sir, none of that. Several neighbors openly coveted the pole, mothers ushered their youngins into the house, and 3 birds got baptized on the spot, in the front yard bird bath! With hushed reverence (and an internal bursting joy!) I unscrewed the pole segments, stowed them into the included handsome storage bag, slung it over my shoulder and disappeared into the light of my garage as the garage door descended behind me covering my tracks during my ingress into the humble abode, I called home. God bless, *tips hat and bows*

Good trimmer
Very easy to assemble. Have only used the saw, not the scissors. Only needed to cut one palm tree leaf for now and it cut it in seconds! Luckily, I only had to use 4 rods. Not sure I would manage with all rods attached.Happy I could trim the tree myself rather than paying someone else to do it.

Overall very good product - product info above has errors - needs better vendor info and marketing
The basic saw and pole is good, but several things could be better.Pros: The pole is a good combo of light weight and strength - at 21ft it is heavy, awkward and bendy, but making it stiffer would add too much weight. Cuts through my 3-4" maple branches quickly and cleanly. The pole segment size makes it easy to build the right length for each job and is stiffer than "extendables"The section threads start loose and get tighter at the last twist to stay locked. The blade is sharp and cuts well - bends, but thicker blade would cause more drag on hard woodThe storage/carry bags are well built and handy.Cons: The product info above speaks of replacing the blade, but not how to buy one - will have to use generics. It's good practice to remove smaller end branches & reduce weight before sawing near trunk.Other vendors sell the same pole with a lever cutter - Scalebeard even talks about it in the product info above. Should offer one as an add-on purchase.Silver plating on the screw ends is inconsistent - areas of plating are bare on several of my sections. As mentioned by others, the saw head wingnuts should have lock washers or nylon lock inserts to stop loosening.UPDATE: Have now used for several weeks while trimming dozens of 2"-5" maple branches to raise the canopy around my house for a better view. The saw blade cut well, but slowly due to the thickness and hardness of the maple. After putting lock washers on the blade screws, they never loosened again. Never had a problem with the segments unscrewing, but it actually shouldn't happen unless the user causes it. The blade end won't twist as it is riding in a sawn grove - the pole segments can't either if they all start tight. Has to be user error by twisting the handle end as they saw.Wanted to remove some branches the 21 ft pole would not reach and also wanted a spare blade, so ordered a 2nd unit. Found even at 70 years, I could still keep the pole under control with up to 3 extra segments. To get the blade so high, I just tossed a line with a weight up and over the branch, then used that to pull the blade end up instead of trying to balance 30 ft of pole from the bottom. Extra long pole was very bendy, but going slow and taking care to keep my stokes straight and aligned did the trick.Product info above needs lots of corrections:"Aluminum alloy telescopic pole" - not aluminum and not telescopic"26 foot Tree Trimmer Pole" - it's not quite 21""the compound pulley system built into the pruning head" - NOPE! - but there are other vendors to buy a pulley cutter head from that will fit.

This gets stuck in the tree limbs easily
Very good saw. Especially for palm trees.

26 ft threaded section pole saw
There are many sections to assemble for use and take apart again but it does allow it to fit in a small storage space or vehicle The saw is sharp and cuts quickly. It can be heavy to lift at close to full length and hard to use due to flexing. Easier to use at shorter lengths. You might consider a telescoping pole if you don't need the shorter stowed length. It can be easier to extend a lighter telescopic pole than assemble and lift this one. However a metal telescopic pole could conduct electricity more than fiberglass

Very nice kit, and nice bag
NOT A VINE BUYER>I was up 36 feet. Trying to get a "widower maker"The best review I read was, "BE PATIENT." I got the snag and another large pile of other branches.Pretty amazing tool IMO.I would not suggest NOT using a ladder (LIke I did) It still worked. Be patient.
