19" Inlaid wooden chess board. No. 5

It arrive damaged, looks like it was dropped in transit.Inside the packaging 2 of the corners were protected by foam inserts but the other 2 were not.The delivery was longer than I was expecting but was earlier than their estimated date.I bought this to go with a bespoke chess set and at 1st glance I was happy with it.After seeing the damage less so. [I will be contacting the supplier]The back of the board does not have the Regency Chess company sticker as shown in the advert but I understand that this is indeed a Regency Chess company product.The surfaces are a veneer and seem quite good quality and the damage shows that the inner wood is a type of compressed wood or similar... so if you drop it on it’s edge it will dent or crush.The squares are 50mm [2inch] and the overall size is 478mm square [approx 18 & 3/4 inches]....Update,After contacting the seller they responded immediately and apologised for the damage caused by the delivery company. as a solution they offered a partial refund [discount] to reflect the damage which I thought was fair and reasonable.So I thank the supplier for their excellent quick response and service.

Really excellent quality for the price - I spent a long time researching a board to go with my son’s chess pieces and this was perfect! It looks lovely and although a veneer it is very well made and solid. Sadly it arrived slightly damaged on the corner but I was extremely impressed with the way in which the issue was dealt with. I would not hesitate to recommend both the product and ‘The English Chess Company’.

Really nice board

A beautiful nineteen inch chess board, I was very impressed by the quality of the board and the extremely good packaging it arrived in, and it was manufactured in Spain and not the far east as I feared it would be.I could not find any fault with it whatsoever, and I checked it thoroughly.Highly recommended.

Please don't listen to all the moaning drivel "Ive got 1cm stain, moan moan tiny bit of damage to the corner moan moan one bit has a little more discolouration moan moan"These are all quotes from people who DON'T PLAY CHESS .... believe me.This is the best, sturdy, solid and great looking chess board that you will ever have the privilege to own.2000 games and counting.... and it is still in near perfect condition (been thrown about a bit too, chess at the park, chess down the beach, in the pub...etc)

This is a fine chess board of a good size with 5 cm squares. Although it is made from mahogany and sycamore instead of the often quoted maple and rosewood, the effect of the inlaid woods looks good, giving the necessary contrast between adjacent squares. The generous 4 cm boarder also sets off the board and its thickness of 14 mm is sufficient the provide the required degree of rigidity.

Disappointed after all the positive reviews that the board arrived with notable corner damage - the external box was fine, the internal box had clearly been hit on the corner so before it was packed by Regency. In addition half of the "whte" squares had very visible single black lines in the veneer and two had brown lacquer stains. This is a shame as the board is actually nice looking and feels solid. The seller did provide full refund including original postage.

A truly excellent piece of kit , the service , the way the product was packed and the board itself are exceptional, would recommend this board to anyone, the poor reviews that have been posted earlier completely alien to this product , regency chess are well worth a visit on here , well done to a great company !!!!!!
