Berserk Complete 1997 TV Series

There are three major adaptions of the amazing Berserk manga into an anime. I own all three and the original 1997 release is still the best version. Synopsis from IMDB.com, "Guts, a wandering mercenary, joins the Band of the Hawk after being defeated in a duel by Griffith, the group's leader, and founder. Together, they dominate every battle, but something menacing lurks in the shadows." This Blu-ray release has vastly improved picture quality over the DVD release and the audio is also excellent. This Blu-ray release is now the definitive way to own the original Berserk. I recommend this show primarily for adult anime fans due to the violence and gore.

Finally on Blu Ray in Region A (North America) released by discotek, the series is here in all its glory.The ‘97 Berserk anime will always hold a special place in my heart. It came along when I was going through some tough battles and introduced me to one of my all time favorite protagonists Guts. It also lured me into reading the manga and taking that amazing journey with Kentaro Miura. RIP to the legend who brought us amazing art and an epic story

I could gush over this anime for ages, but I'll try and stick to the product that Discoteck Media made XD.This Blu-ray is a fantastic addition to my collection, and a loving tribute to a series that was long out of print in the USA. The picture quality is wonderful, and I love that Discoteck included the dub bloopers.As for the anime, it is gorgeous to view. It is the best animated representation of Berserk, the newer anime doesn't even come close in visuals, music, etc.

The media could not be loaded. I once watched this with my husband, when we found it at Blockbuster. It's still as "beautiful" as I remember it. I've seen the 2016 series, and this is by far superior because it looks like it was all hand drawn vs cgi. The 2016 series does continue where this one ends, and it carries it up to the last couple of the black hard cover omibus books that were released. For this collection disc 1 holds episodes 1-13 and the second disc holds 14-25. The audio can either be in English or Japanese, and there is an option for the songs/signs. There is also an option for full English under the subtitles.

Great adaptation of the best manga series ever made. This is the one to buy if you love berserk. Holds up extremely well.

The darkest anime in existence. As a newcomer to Berserk, I wasn't for sure what to expect, but, man, the story is so well written and the characters are as relatable as they come. Fair warning to those curious about Berserk, buckle up for the last three episodes. I will not go into spoilers, but they will leave you traumatized.
