An Introduction to Developmental Psychology
An excellent book for anybody studying developmental psychology. This is ideal for undergraduate study. It's very easy to read and illustrative so good for both learner types. Please note this is an introduction only and would not be fully appropriate for year 2/3 of your degree, however you could use it to refer back to key theorists and ideology.

Excellent textbook.
It’s hard to do justice to this book with mere words and I can see others have shared photos of the text.I have been studying child psychology for two years and have been using this book for my course since I got it,He book covers every period of childhood from birth to adulthood with the key psycho-social development periods explored in detail. It also looks at different developments such as autism and how this manifests itself as th child grows.Set out in clear and easy to follow chapters with text boxes where an issue needs further exploration and information. Key psychological tests which have been performed over the years looked at in more detail to show how theories have developed over time.Fabulous book for all students of child psychology,

Come as you are
Although this is not the type of book I'll read from cover to cover, the content is extremely fascinating. As a foster carer, there are sections in here that are particularly relevant, especially regarding attachment types and the effects of drug taking during pregnancy.Probably a book that all parents should have access to, as it offers a lot of insight into why your children behave how they do.This book will be a constant source of reference until the pages are torn and dog-eared. Highly recommended.

With thanks to Slater and Brenner
I can confirm what has been stated about this book in the brief production description, it is a highly readable and accessible text, appropriate to professionals, students and researchers undertaking literary reviews but also to a wider audience of readers, there is a great contents page (chapter contents are a feature also, on a page which is distinctively coloured), index, endnotes (at the conclusion of each chapter), complete and comprehensive bibliography and references, glossary (which I have found to be as good or better than some older dictionaries of psychology or psychoanalysis which I still have from my time as a student years ago).As the product description indicates text is broken up by subheadings bullet points and summary and conclusion, fig. illustrations and some excellent synopsis boxes accompany the text along the outlying parts of the sides of the page, these are distinctively coloured and condense ideas such as theory of mind, moral judgement, u-shaped functions, continuous function-decreasing ability, discontinuous (step) function. There are also some good photographic illustrations of behaviour and babies (I wish that I had had this text or an earlier variant or something quite like it when completing essays on child development or child observation reports while a student). The summary and conclusions at the end of each chapter are absolutely brilliant and break down topics very well for anyone totally unfamiliar with the topic or more studied in the matter (I have read a number of different book length sources on attachment theory and think that the content here and summaries are second to none).I liked and appreciated the discussion points, although I am unlikely to use these they proved to be interesting and thought provoking, if I where a lecturer who had incorporated this as mandatory reading on a course of study I certainly would use these as discussion points in a class or workshop or study circle, they all would make good essay topics too. For the most part I thought that these were framed in such a way as to illustrate understanding and not simply a capacity for attention, memory and recall of information alone. This is a great book overall, I think that the editors have done a fantastic job, while the book is massive and a little heavy reading it I could not find anything which indicated anything other than a great economy of words. Some books, particularly text books, I have read and thought they were paid by the word the amount of excessive verbage involved but this is not the case with this one (a pleasant surprise). This is the third edition, I do not own any of the earlier editions and so can not comment upon whether or not there has been much additional content or change to content of the earlier editions (I do not know when they were released and so do not know if any breakthroughs have been made, some of the photographs appear a little dated, some like they may be stock photographs but none appear very dated, ie persons dressed in the distinctive style of another age altogether, or what feels like it). Recommended. All the pages are glossy pages and in full colour.
