I took our 13-year-old cat to the vet because she was extremely lethargic and stopped eating for several days. The blood tests showed that she was severely anemic, but the exact cause remained unknown because all the other tests and scans came up negative. The vet's best "educated" guess was autoimmune hemolytic anemia, i.e. her immune system was attacking her red blood cells. He suggested giving her a blood transfusion first to buy some time, and then gave us some antibiotics and steroid medications. Our cat refused to take the medication, and we didn't want to put her through the trauma of blood transfusion.I searched online for alternatives and came across this product - Pet-Tinic - that is a iron supplement (in addition to several other vitamins and minerals). I also read from some of the Amazon reviews that it did help other anemic cats, so I decided to buy a bottle. At first it wasn't easy to feed it to our cat, but after a few days we managed to give her enough (about 2 mL per day). Within a week, her conditions began to improve. She had resumed eating, her energy level was pretty much back to normal, and her paw and gum went from a white color to a pinkish hue. I haven't had a chance to bring her back to the vet to check on her RBC count, but so far this supplement really seemed to make difference.

Pet-Tinic contains a high amount of iron, vitamin B12, and corn syrup which is what I was looking for a high calorie supplement for emergency cases. The amount of the iron and vitamin B12 is about 5 to 10 times higher than that found in any other supplement you can find on Amazon or in a veterinary clinic.The iron is useful because it is what makes up red blood cells which fuels respiration and blood transportation throughout the body. Also pay attention to the liver component which will also help make new blood cells. Anemic patients often die because of inadequate blood being transported to vital organs which can be verified by pale mucous membranes and being underweight. The corn syrup is useful because patients who are young or sick can quickly become hypothermic which can lead to being hypoglycemic. Being hypoglycemic can lead to fainting, coma, death. Corn syrup helps to combat hypoglycemia which is vital for young kittens or sick patients to survive. The B12 component of Pet-Tinic is an appetite stimulant which will help even the sickest cat to eat food. The combination of these three additives is what will save most kittens with fading kitten syndrome and cats with upper respiratory infection or anemia.This product is extremely affordable and will last a long time for the price. The only downside to this supplement is that it is completely black and does not taste good due to the high amount of iron. This is a small price to pay for the effectiveness of Pet-Tinic. I have used this product in over 100 cats with upper respiratory infection or anemia and have never been let down. I have even used it in a case of hepatic lipidosis also known as fatty liver disease in a 20 pound cat. I always put my money on Pet-Tinic for enticing sick pets to eat rather than any other high calorie supplement.I think that any person who takes fostering or cat care taking seriously should have this product in their medicine cabinet. You never know when you might find a sick kitten on your door stop or on the road who will need this high level of support in order to survive.

Good quality, and good availability (as it is used via vet advice for a senior chihuahua). No problem with edibility, esp. when added to either wet or dry dog food.

I put vitamin in my dog food and she take it that way.The doctor had recommended it for her.I now purchase it for Amazon .It helps with my dog bones also .

I have used Petinic for a few years. I think it works, and gives proper nutrition. My dog is 15 years old, and still going strong. My vet said he is in very good condition for his age. That might also be because I have fed him a homemade diet for the last few years (and a homemade Traditional Chinese Medicine diet (heating/cooling diet for the last 2 years, which really made a difference). Plus, he gets supplements to keep his kidney and liver values at normal levels. My vet said Petinic is decent for a pet vitamin. The thing I HAAAATE about Petinic is the CAP on the bottle. Every time you cap the bottle, it drips down the side, and without fail, when you put it back in the refrig, you will have a sticky mess in your refrig the next time you go to use it. Even if you wipe the cap before you cap it, somehow it still becomes a mess. ALSO, I travel back and forth every few days to another house, and many times, the bottle will fall over in my food bag (even though I have tried to prop it up) and even though you tighten the cap, I will always left with half the bottle emptied out in the bottom of the food bag. This has, I believe, molasses in it to make it palatable for the dog to eat it, so it becomes a big sticky mess. I have battled this dang cap disaster for the several years I have bought Petinic. PLEASE, PETINIC, FIGURE OUT A DIFFERENT CAP DESIGN!!! If I could find another liquid vitamin for my dog that was certified to be really good for him, and was decently priced, I would have to say goodbye to Petinic.
