A very good cutter, but the whole unit not easy to handle with prolonged use over an hour
I took a while to decide to order this trimmer (mindful of the range of comment on reliability and handling) and I then waited over a year to use and make an assessment before adding a review. The cutting part of the tool is very good, and I have had no issues with battery power or reliability. My neighbours have large hedges which they don’t control and I was looking for a trimmer that I could use use on my side without need for a step ladder. I am 70 and don’t want the risk of a ladder on such work. The extendable reach of this trimmer is impressive and I have found it possible to keep the hedges from ‘over growing’ on my side of the fence. The complete unit is manageable for me, but the long extended reach combined with weight certainly makes it awkward to use, so I keep use to an hour max little and often.Part of the awkwardness is because the power control handle/battery is at the lowest end, if it was redesigned to (say) a quarter or third the way up, the balance weight would be easier to manage because my arms would not need to be fully outstretched.Overall I am pleased with the trimmer and can manage its awkwardness - particularly as I can avoid the need for a ladder (of course if my neighbours would be more thoughtful about the curbing the growth height of their hedges it would be better still).

So far so good
Once I have got my hedges and conifers to where I want them it will become easier. Hard heavy work at the moment cos as you’d expect however light they make them it is still a strain over long periods of trimming so don’t expect miracles but regular quick trimming and keep on top of it is the trick I’m going to follow as it’s quick and easy to get out set up and to get on with it.

Works well
This was a lot cheaper than other models, it works as well as the high branded ones. Light weight, same colour as the more expensive, it comes in bits the assembly was easy, it's so much better not having cable hanging as my old one. The battery life is good.

Lightweight work only
Too heavy really for too much height work.Really only cuts leafy hedges etc...good but don't expect too much.

Worked well - but only once!
We bought this hedge trimmer at the end of 2021. However, due to illness did not actually use it until the following year (although we had tested it briefly on arrival). All was well. Bit heavy to move around but nevertheless did it's job. It was still working when it was stored away (indoors). Removed battery obviously. Again, due to illness, I was unable to use it again until this year. Charged battery (which indicated it was retaining full charge), turned on power - literally nothing happened. We thought perhaps a fault may have developed with the battery given that it had been unused for so long, so, we ordered a new one from the same seller, Garden Gear. Charged the new battery - which made no difference. The machine is completely dead. Unfortunately, it is now out of its 2 year warranty, so, despite having only used it literally once for about an hour a couple of years ago, we can't now ask for a replacement. I've since read numerous complaints from buyers stating that their batteries have been faulty. Whether that was the cause of our problem, I don't know. Basically though we are now left with a piece of junk - wishing that we'd invested our money in a different brand.

Great but heavy
It's a great bit of kit, you do have some assembly but it's easy to do. The only issue we have is that it's heavy. I'm 5ft 2in and it's hard going for me, my husband is over 6ft and it was hard going for him. Maybe consider weight.

Easy to put together
This was too heavy for me to use safely so I had to return it. Beware though, it cost £37 to return it!!!

It's no toy!
Bought this when a similar item from a different seller had to be sent back due to a fault, and so far, so good. So brightly coloured that it almost looks like a toy, but the 2.8m reach is very impressive and the blades look razor sharp. It's heavy in use, particularly on full extension, but I doubt whether there's any such thing as a "lightweight cordless pole hedge trimmer". Would struggle with thicker branches, but ideal for light use. Yet to require recharge so there may be more to add to this review.Update: in July this year I caught the blades of the machine on barbed wire, whereupon it stopped working. It’s now in the bin. I purchased another cordless extendable trimmer from a prestige manufacturer, and to be frank it’s feeble compared to this Garden Gear model despite being twice the price. The new trimmer struggles to cut branches that the GG took in its stride, and has a considerably shorter blade. Moral of this story is : “more money paid” doesn’t necessarily equate to “better performance”.
