A Necessity for Me
This not only gives a catalog of scales to practice along the neck but also a number of exercises in each position to aid with memory and sight reading. I have improved greatly after using this book for under two weeks. Follow the instructions of how to practice each section and it will go a long way. I can already tell I'll be using this book for a lifetime and have shaped my practice routine around it.This is a very thorough study. Nothing so far is left to confusion, and every scale (major, melodic and harmonic minor) is presented through order of sharps: major and relative minor; then order of flats: major and relative minor. One position at a time. You are recommended to practice two scales per session. The clearness of what's expected with the exercises are what set this book apart for me.You must must have a teacher or consult a reputable method book/video for proper playing position before working on these exercises.

A very thorough work on scales for the guitar
This book deals with scales in a very comprehensive and thorough way. Each scale is presented in its basic form followed by a series of exercises based on the scale. The book is quite thick (269 pages) and is suitable for any level of player from beginner to virtuoso. I only envisage myself learning and practicing the common major and their relative minor scales. However, anyone aiming for a high level of musical development would definitely benefit from this book. I highly recommend this work for anyone who is serious about playing the classical guitar.

Very Useful Studies
Although the book was used, it is in very serviceable condition and saved quite a bit over new. This is a great collection of scales and studies in all keys.

Want To Learn Scales? Get This.
This book is awesome. It was first introduced to me by an accomplished classical player, but I'm a metalhead and I love it. It covers all the keys, all over the neck, with lots of great sight reading exercises and drills that are designed (and well designed) by a guitar player for the guitar. Also, there's text about how to go about playing the book, and I can testify personally that if you follow his method, you will quickly learn a lot about the guitar. This is not some hackish "we have cataloged every possible combination of notes on the guitar and therefore we are awesome" book. This is quality advice and teaching from a real player. I have played guitar for over 15 years, in lots of different environments, including studying classical guitar in college with professionals and touring with death metal bands. I can't think of a serious player that I wouldn't recommend this book to (and most of them know about it already).

Music theory with Guitar in mind.
Covers basics of music theory. There are other books that do as well, but reference the classic piano keys. There are books to teach guitar chords and riffs... not this book. This book is for budding musicians who want to learn how to read music, AND how notes and scales on sheet music can be taught on guitar.Of course builds that knowledge for chords etc.Excellent.

Very Good
This is a giant book of scale patterns. However, it would be nice if the modal scales studies were included: they are not. This volume only includes majors and minors. Nevertheless, it is a very good practice book.
